Bridal Type #1: The Bridechilla
Be it the florals and the music, the food and the wine, or what have you: there are certain aspects of your wedding day you want to do yourself. You have areas of expertise and are certain of each item you want to focus on being beautifully, perfectly, you two! While it can be fun to perfect specific items on your wedding planning to do list, there are sure to be things you simply don’t want to do. Sometimes, trying to be “the calm one” leads to unnecessary and delayed expectations rearing their ugly head. This is where having an amazing vendor team, especially a planner, will balance the scales.
The Good:
- You know that at the end of the day you are getting to marry your best friend and that’s all that really matters.
- You love to craft and enjoy spending quality time with your friends making fun projects and even may discover a natural talent for it (hello, etsy shop)
- Nothing can drag down your spirit and your overwhelming joy for the big day brings everyone together.
The Not So Great:
- Too much DIY can cause burnout or leaving just not enough time to complete it all. Resentment can set in and lead to large expenditures not planned on in the end.
- Sometimes your support system can fail, leaving a hefty to do on your plate.
- Being Bridechilla can sometimes be read wrong as disinterested or not fully committed to the wedding day dream.
Bridal Type #2: The Sentimentalist
Your mindset on just about everything is: it’s always better together. Just like everything else in your life, you want to gather your dearest people to join in on the fun. You can’t wait to pick out your dress with your selected family members, have a bachelorette bash with your greatest Gals, wedding registry shop with your forever bestie to be, and be showered during your bridal shower with both friends and family. As long as those you love are happy, you are, too!
The Good:
- Everything about your day is centered around family and friends. You want everyone to have literally the best day ever!
- Finding a venue should be easy as long as it’s big enough to host all of your cousins
The Not So Great:
- Family is important but their opinions may start to overwhelm you and your fiancé. It’s hard to please everyone especially when it comes to strong opinions on both sides. You may feel torn on the wedding day between enjoying yourself and hosting everyone else.
- Analysis Paralysis: It may prove challenging to make a concrete decision you feel good about, like not being able to narrow down your bridal party.
Bridal Type #3: The Perfectionist
In your eyes, there is no detail that doesn’t matter. From the color of the cutlery to the folds of the napkins, each and every detail needs to flow with your carefully thought out theme. You leave no stone left unturned! When you got engaged, that wedding planner binder was in one hand with a highlighter in the other the very next morning. You wholeheartedly believe your wedding day should be straight out of a storybook, and thus, everything must go seamlessly according to your perfectly picked plan.
The Good:
- You are able to make swift decisions.
- You are organized and “know” what needs to be done and how soon Aunt Betty needs her that favorite dress of hers altered.
- The man of your dreams is meeting the day of your dreams and you couldn’t be happier.
The Not so Great:
- Flexibility may be a struggle which can cause a lot of undue stress.
- Wanting to do everything yourself because you feel like only you can do it right will lead to an overburdened and overwhelming feeling.
- Not leaving room for small changes or “things to go wrong” can ruin your vision of your perfect wedding.
