When being busy becomes a burden
I’m Busy!
We’ve all heard the term busy… I am too busy to do this or blessed & busy. But what happens when busy becomes… a burden. Don’t we all dream of the days when life was much simpler. Days obviously long gone and are now replaced with more responsibility than we could ever imagine. Between the requirements of our jobs, lives, household, kids, husbands and everything else under the sun, when is their ever time to just breathe.
Can I do something for you? Can I give you permission to NOT BE SO BUSY. Yes, you heard me right. We as a society and especially woman feel like if we’re not busy that means we’re not successful or at the worst, not good moms, wives or partners.
but,
Ok, so you agree! Yes, Kelly I want to feel less busy but wait … I am too busy to feel less busy. So what’s the answer to all of this? What can help us take on the world and still have time for a sweet bowl double-chocolate-chip-fudge-brownie (I am a total #coldstone lover) goodness at the end of the day without the panic setting in of… did I do enough today, am I prepared for tomorrow. The answer is the 80/20 Rule!
80/20 Rule
80 % of our results come from 20% of our actions. You’ve heard me right, most of your successes come from the smallest amount of intentionality in your life.
In order to properly introduce this, we have to first start with what is your goal today, this month, this year or in life. Can you start with just one goal, as small or as grand as you wish, and write it down on a piece of paper. Then draw a line down the middle and place a few action items that helped you or will help you obtain that goal. Write down everything that you can think and then circle the top 3 that are actionable and quantifiable. These 3 items are your 20%, these are the items that will help you lessen the busy and focus on your results.
“Upward Cycle of Success” ~ Kate Northrup
I promise this activity isn’t merely to distract you from the busy, it’s apart of the “upward cycle of success” leading you to actionable steps to regain control of your life or business and transform you into living your best life (excuse the millennial reference hahah).
When we regain this control, we are changing are sense of worth into positive moments instead of the … will I ever get this done… drag of a mentality. Become comfortable with the space and pause that being less busy gives you and realize that what you don’t do sometimes makes room for the
