What is Included in Your Wedding Day Details
From the the couple’s portraits, to the wedding day details shots: you have seen and swooned over it all! All across photo albums and social media platforms alike–brides and grooms share their big day with excitement. As you think down through your own big day, you have likely done some of your own planning. You have selected matched pajamas for you and your best friends. Your furry friend has a brand new collar to strut around in. And, of course, you and your spouse to be have poured over decisions of what you will both wear. But there is something that couples often forget to plan for: their wedding day details photos.
If you are the type of bride or groom who gets starry-eyed over the flat lay photos of invitations suites, rings and more, this is for you! You will want to ensure you both plan for and provide the necessary details on your wedding day for your photographer to capture. But what to bring? We read your mind! Below we are sharing things you may want to consider bringing to be sure your wedding detail shots cover all the bases.
Wedding Day Details Items
Let’s start with what is likely highest priority in your eyes: your wedding rings. While of course you will both want to bring your wedding rings and engagement ring, there are other details to consider too. Some couples have promise rings before their engagement, or even another form of jewelry. Maybe you got your spouse a meaningful necklace they wear every day. If you want these items captured, bring all of these special jewelry pieces too. A good rule of thumb is: if you plan to wear it as an accessory on your big day, you will want it in your detail shots. This includes both of your shoe selections, any hair pieces, fun socks for the groom, cuff links, bow ties or ties, and more. The cherry on top? Be sure to bring all ring boxes. If you don’t like the boxes the rings came in, we recommend ordering special ones. We love The Mrs. Box. You can check them out here: The Mrs. Box Ring Boxes
Next, you will want to bring what gathered everyone together: your wedding invitation suite. This includes a stamped envelope, invitation, RSVP card/envelope, detail card, and Save the Date. We always recommend having whoever is address your envelopes–be it calligrapher or labels–address one envelope to you two. This is the perfect one to use in these detail shots.
Last but not least? The most special of all: family heirlooms. Often brides will wear a piece of jewelry that belongs to their grandmother, or a dear aunt. Grooms may bring a flask that belonged to their great grandfather. Maybe the bride may wear a piece of lace from her mother’s wedding dress. Whatever heirlooms you hold dear enough to wear on your big day, be sure to have those ready for detail shots.
Florals & Fun
Now that you have all of your detail items gathered, be sure that you provide complimentary ornamental items, too. This is as easy as asking your florist to provide extra “detail blooms” to give your photographer to place alongside the details for these photographs. And as always, be sure you have a clean, dedicated space with natural light for your photographer to work their magic and capture these details in. Sign, sealed, delivered–these gorgeous wedding day details shots are yours!
