Today’s the day!
It’s Self Love Day!
You have heard of Valentine’s Day. Every year, on February 14th, loved ones of all kinds showcase their adoration for their nearests & dearests. The Valentine’s Day love doesn’t have to be romantic; it can be from you to your sibling, furry friend, or your little one!
You have very likely also heard of Galentine’s Day celebrations. This takes place on February 13th each and every year. This is a day for all the ladies to put romance on the back burner for a bit, and shower their dearest fellow boss babes and girl crushes. Be it a shared spa day, brunch, or FaceTime coffee date, we adore this newly appointed holiday.
Both of these holidays are so special to us both. And yet…something was still missing. From family fondness, to spousal special surprises, to gal goodies; all of these things are so important and so needed. However, all of these things would not be possible without all of us first taking care of ourselves. As we chewed on this thought, it became officially official: a new holiday was needed.
We are deeming today, February 12th, Self Love Day!
Because you can’t love others before you pour love into yourself first.
This resonates with us on many different levels. As wedding photographers, being in the service industry allows us the honor of pouring our hearts and gifts into the lives of many. We adore serving others, and it will never cease to be an immense honor being selected to do so on one’s most special days.
As wives, we are so grateful for both of our spouses unconditional support and encouragement. We, too, find it deeply important to shower them with the same support, all while making the time to really focus on and check in on each other amidst the chaos of the day to day.
As business partners & Galentines, gratitude pours from our hearts at having one another to lean on. In busy event days and in exciting strategic planning meetings, we could not do what we do here at Love Letters Co. without one another!
As mamas, this resonates most deeply. Our little fellows are our hearts’ treasures. And goodness knows they bring us enough goofy stories to fill our days with belly laughter! But caring for a person you created with your spouse is a responsibility unlike anything else. It’s the honor of our lives; but it can be very easy to forget to check in on ourselves.
Self Love Day: brought forth from the sea breeze
We recently had the pleasure of venturing down the the Florida Keys for an amazing engagement session. On the morning of our departure, we leaned into our natural mama alarm clocks (ahem…inability to sleep in 😉 ) and woke up before the sunrise. We decided to take some time to do mediation as the sun greeted us to a new day.
In the hours that followed, we marveled at we accomplished in only a short time span, after taking only a small amount of time to do something that we enjoy; to do something for ourselves.
So today, we hope that you carve out those minutes for yourself. Do something that fills your cup. Not just because it needs filled before you can pour your love out onto others, but because you deserve it.
Self Love Day can look different for everyone- whether you pick up a book, sit in the sun, take a walk, or binge your favorite show; do something for YOU today!
Join the celebrations with us on Instagram. Post a photo, tag us, and be sure to use the hashtag #SelfLove2020. We will be selecting a winner for a special gift in your mailbox from the entries. Good luck! And most importantly…
Happy Self Love Day!
