Choosing the right photographer for you!  A Guide to say yes, for the second time!

From a photographer’s perspective:

We know being chosen to photograph your best day ever is not only a very personal decision  (one which we are honored to be a part of) but also involves several other aspects.  The one thing we want for all of our potential brides is to consider the more of the other factors outside of budget.  Here’s our top 10 things to consider when choosing the right photographer, for you!

1. Define Your Budget: Start by establishing a clear budget for your wedding photography. This will help you narrow down your options and focus on photographers whose pricing aligns with your financial plan. However, we encourage you to have a range budget not a fixed number.

2. Review Portfolios: Look through the portfolios of potential photographers to get a sense of their style and expertise. Pay attention to the composition, lighting, and overall aesthetic to find a photographer whose work resonates with you. Are you looking for dark and moody, True Tone’s or bright and airy, or something in between.  Do you like the film aesthetic or very sharp images?  Make sure you look through a good amount of full galleries and don’t be fooled by just the best on instagram.

3. Meet in Person or Virtually: Schedule meetings with potential photographers to discuss your vision and gauge their understanding of your expectations. This personal connection is crucial in ensuring a smooth collaboration on your big day and a personal connection that is transparent in your images.

4.  Understand Their Values: Wedding photographers aren’t just there to capture moments; they play a significant role in preserving the essence of your special day. Discuss their values and approach to ensure they align with your own. Look for professionals who prioritize authenticity and storytelling.

5. Ask About Experience: Inquire about the photographer’s experience, especially with weddings. Seasoned professionals often have the expertise to navigate various scenarios and capture the best moments, even in challenging conditions.

6. Check Reviews and References: Read reviews from previous clients to gain insights into their experiences. Additionally, ask the photographer for references to directly connect with couples who have worked with them before.

7. Discuss Packages and Customization: Understand the packages offered and inquire about any customization options. This ensures that the services provided align with your specific needs and preferences.

8. Communication is Key: Choose a photographer who communicates effectively and promptly. Clear communication will help avoid misunderstandings and ensure that everyone is on the same page leading up to and on your wedding day.

9. Like-Mindedness: Seek a photographer who shares your vision and understands the significance of the moments you want to capture. This like-mindedness contributes to a collaborative and enjoyable experience.

And Most Importantly….

10. Contract and Terms: Before finalizing your decision, carefully review the contract and terms. Ensure that all details, including deliverables, timelines, and payment schedules, are clearly outlined and agreed upon. Specifically if you own the full print release or if there are any size limitations!

By considering these aspects, you’ll be better equipped to choose a wedding photographer who not only fits your budget but also aligns with your values, ensuring beautiful and meaningful memories of your special day.
