Cait & Ken’s Coastal Wedding at South Seas Island Resort

Some wedding days just feel easy. The light hits the water just right. Laughter carries through the tent. Every moment unfolds exactly as it should. That’s how Cait and Ken’s wedding day felt at South Seas Island Resort.

From the start, they dreamed of something timeless. A day filled with soft colors, ocean air, and their favorite people all in one place. As their Captiva wedding planner, photographers and videographer we helped bring that vision to life from the first design sketches to the last dance.

Words From The Bride

What was your favorite part of the wedding process? “The DIYs! Not only were they fun to do but they helped me show how grateful I was for my guests.  A big goal I had for the wedding was to try and express to each person how grateful we were that they were there. The two aspects I used to convey this were the “memorial” mirror and the personalized letters. For the mirror, I had framed pictures of family – those who are still with us and those that have passed – then I put an empty frame so the people looking at the mirror would be a part of the mirror. I also wrote cards for each guest so when they arrived to the reception, they each had their own personalised card where we expressed how thankful we were that they were there. Having the DIYs relaying a message, it allowed me to put love into each DIY so I had more fun creating them then stress…even though I only started the DIYs a few weeks before my wedding.  Having such an amazing wedding planner made me feel so at ease during the entire process so it made the time fly by. Before I knew it, we were a month out from the wedding and I hadn’t started my projects yet! Though short on time, they came out more perfect then I could’ve imagined!”

A Romantic South Seas Island Resort Wedding

Their palette was inspired by the sea. Blue tones with soft neutral accents. Woven textures, light florals, and flickering candles filled the space. The Sperry tent set the scene perfectly. You could feel the ocean breeze move through the canvas as the tables glowed with tall candles and blue glassware. Every detail felt calm, elegant, and full of heart.

Cait and Ken told us early on that they were most excited for the food, dessert, and just having their families together. That heart-centered approach guided the entire planning process. The day wasn’t just about the design. It was about connection. Every decision reflected who they are—kind, joyful, and grounded.

Words From The Bride

What ended up being your favorite part of the wedding day? Sitting at our table at the reception and seeing everyone we love in one place. It was an unforgettable experience and made me so emotional – I literally kept bursting into tears of happiness. I’ve never felt so much love and joy in one room. While wedding planning, I was told that this is most likely the only time everyone you love will be together in one room. I really carried that with me not only through the entirety of the day but while planning the wedding too. Keeping this in mind, it made the day so much more meaningful than it already was. It really made me appreciate everyone being there and supporting us on such a special occasion.

Ceremony by the Sea

Guests arrived to an atmosphere that felt warm and welcoming. The ceremony overlooked the water, framed by soft greenery and delicate blooms from I Dew Florals. The sound of waves mixed with the music from Curate Entertainment’s string ensemble. When Cait walked down the aisle, the entire space seemed to pause. It was simple and beautiful, just as they imagined.

Elegant Tent Reception on Captiva Island

After the ceremony, everyone gathered under the tent for dinner. Gold chairs, layered textures, and soft candlelight created an inviting glow. The tables were full of color and movement—florals in pale blush and cream, blue napkins knotted at each place, and woven chargers that tied it all together. Guests toasted with laughter and stories before hitting the dance floor with DJ Fresh. Later, Lady Cakes and Sospiri Gelato kept everyone smiling well into the night.

Their South Seas wedding reminded us exactly why we love this work. The beauty, the joy, and the little in-between moments that make a day unforgettable. Cait and Ken’s celebration was coastal, classic, and filled with heart.

Words From The Bride

If you had any words of advice for a bride considering working with a wedding planner, what would they be? Do it! While we were at the beginning stages of planning, we were trying to figure out on what level planning we would want. Ultimately, we decided to do the full planning and even expanded our contract for assistance with the welcome party. Not only did they help make the entire process easier but they made the day a breeze. I felt like I didn’t have to do anything on the day of and it allowed me to actually enjoy and take in everything about the day. For the planning, it was so helpful to have a planner alongside us. Anytime I had a thought, question, idea, or concern – they were so quick and helpful with a response. They handled all of the conversations and figured out details between us and our vendors so we only really had to communicate with just our planner and they handled the rest. Especially with LoveLetters, we used their planning, photography, & videography services and it helped eliminate any extra searching at the beginning stage of planning but it also limited the amount of vendors we were working with. I definitely recommend keeping as many services within one company as possible. Similarly to how we used Love Letters 3 services, we kept floral & rentals within one company – I Dew. It took a lot of stress away.
