As creatives, we tend to come up with crazy ideas, and then need an outlet to let them come to life. That’s exactly what happened this past summer after a visit to one of our favorite meeting places at Collaboratory. We loved how Southwest Florida Community Foundation had renovated the building. They kept the vintage train station in tact, while updating the space for the community to collaborate. We started thinking: what if we created a styled shoot that would really make the beauty of the building shine. Create something that not only represented the community but also the amazing people who make up our SWFL home. Our vision: a boho-mandala inspired stylized shoot.

With any styled shoot most of the things cannot be recycled, especially the florals. We knew we wanted to create something magical that would represent the community and the SWFL Foundation but also allow us to create… and I mean, really create. Once we started brainstorming all of the pretty things, our hearts became overwhelmed at the thought of something so beautiful going to waste. So we decided….

why not give it all away to one deserving couple.

The inspiration for the stylized shoot. Over the next few months, Kelly and I put our heads together designing and envisioning. We wanted to represent both the diverse heritage and up-trending local community of SWFL. In this bright Floridian shoot envisioned combining wild florals with the soft texture of antique crocheted dollies. With the help of some amazing vendors who shared our vision we set forth to host both a stylized shoot and then a real wedding day on the SAME DAY. Along came the Bel Amour Wedding Day Giveaway and Stylized Shoot.

The Timeline

In September we officially released the entry form to find one lucky couple who would win the Bel Amour Wedding Day Giveaway. We asked that anyone who entered tell us their love story. Not only that, we wanted to hear about their own community involvement. By late October the entry period was complete. It was up to a panel of judges (who are also community-minded) to decide who our winner would be. By November 1st, we had announced the winners: a beautiful couple who serves the community so incredibly on a daily basis. We certainly plan on sharing their story soon too- so be on the lookout for that! We mixed in a crazy busy wedding season, the holidays, and entered into January with full speed. Finally the day had come and on January 26, 2020 we came together with the FULL team (all hands on deck) to create an unforgettable shoot and real wedding day.

When we say we can’t thank our amazing vendors enough, we truly mean it. Each vendor not only put in their time to meet with us and share our vision, they each fully donated their time and energy into make the wedding day as beautiful as possible for our lucky couple. I may be in love with florals but holy-moly Floral Artistry of Sanibel outdid themselves with thee most beautiful and unique floral arrangements we have ever seen!

You can see the Boho-Mandala Inspiration in the details under the clear glass plates and throughout the shoot. The Mandala was represented on the invitations, cake and even the model’s tie. Our concept of boho came in the form of vintage dollies and the intricate lace dress worn by the model bride.
